Today is my grandma’s birthday but sadly this is her first birthday where she’s not here with us. She would have been 102 today. Last year we celebrated at the Cheesecake Factory and although she was in a wheelchair, had lost her second oldest son two days before and was wearing a wig, grandma didn’t seem like she had spent 101 years on Earth. In fact, people kept coming up to her and congratulating her and telling her how good she looked and how young she seemed.
Thinking about Grandma makes me feel warm inside. She was smart, loved reading (guess I got that from her) and could make me smile with a sly comment. She lived far longer than most of us will, so I can’t say that I wished she had more time but I confess I wish I had spent more time asking her questions about her life. If you still have a grandma or a grandma figure in your life make sure you find out her life story, give her some love and let her know what she means to you.
Happy Birthday Grandma! I hope you’re having fun up there!
